Brampton Village Hub BramShed

BramShed

Who are we?

BramShed is, essentially, a community workshop for the village of Brampton. Opened in January 2022, it is affiliated to the UK Men’s Shed Association and the Village Hub. The facility provides a practical environment where members can use wood and metalworking skills on a range of creative, refurbishment or repair projects. The Shed enables its members to continue using skills developed in former occupations or to learn new skills from other members. Previous skills, though, are not a prerequisite – we can learn from each other!

Membership is open to adults, regardless of gender, race, religion, political views, nationality, or disability. We have a code of conduct which all members are required to abide by and this helps to promote an inclusive space where members can feel comfortable – a copy of this is at Attachment 1. The Shed is run by volunteers – the Shedders themselves. You get out of the Shed what you put into it. Our overall aim is to contribute towards building better community cohesion, promoting the inclusion of isolated marginalised groups and helping socially isolated individuals in Brampton. Our Constitution is at Attachment 2.

Where are we?

The BramShed building is located at the western end of the new Brampton Park housing estate.
To find us, please enter the estate site from the roundabout close to Notcutts Garden Centre. Proceed down Central Avenue with the Co-Op shop on your right. At the end of Central Avenue turn left and then first right to the front of the building.
The postal address of the shed is: 4A Montagu Road, Brampton, Huntingdon. Cambs. PE28 4QG.

What do we do?

We do whatever it is that appeals to Shed members! Members can work on their own projects, large or small, or get involved with the various repair jobs or refurbishment jobs that come in from the local community. We also sometimes refurbish donated tools and bikes and sell them on to bring a small amount of income into the Shed. In addition to the workshops, there is a social/breakout area where members can sit down and have a tea or coffee and a chat with fellow Shedders.
